Soccer: BYJU’S Named a Sponsor for Qatar World Cup

Bengaluru-based Ed-tech company BYJU’S announced that it has been named as an On official sponsor for FIFA world cup, Qatar 2022, which is scheduled to take place from 21 November to 18 December, 2022. This is a proud moment for India as BYJU’S will be the first Indian Ed-tech firm to sponsor FIFA world cup. However, the valuation  of the  sponsorship  has not been disclosed yet.

BYJU’S, which has offices in 21 countries, offers online education catering to all age groups. It also sponsors the Indian cricket team and this deal with FIFA was its first major move into soccer.

Commenting on the development, Byju Raveendran, BYJU’S founder and CEO  said “We are excited to be sponsoring the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, the biggest single-sport event in the world. It is a matter of pride for us to represent India on such a prestigious global stage and champion the integration of education and sport. Sport is a big part of life and brings together people across the world. Just as football inspires billions, we at BYJU’S hope to inspire the love of learning in every child’s life through this partnership,” as reported in TIMES OF INDIA.

“FIFA is dedicated to harnessing the power of football towards the goal of enacting positive societal change. We’re delighted to be partnered with a company like BYJU’S, which is also engaging communities and empowering young people wherever they may be in the world,” said Kay Madati, FIFA’s Chief Commercial Officer, in a statement.

WHY BYJU’S SPONSORED FIFA WORLD CUP

Now the company will be able to use the FIFA world cup logo, badge and assets for its promotion and distribute them to billions of football fans  around the world.This most prestigious tournament in football is expected to give BYJU’S a global push to scale its operations in international markets such as US, UK, Brazil, Australia, and Mexico.

With 150 million learners around the world ,BYJU’S has been leading in tech-driven, personalized and engaging educational content and product.BYJU’S is now planning for an IPO in the next 9-12 months and is evaluating possibilities of listing in either India or the U.S

BYJU’S announcement came after FIFA’sannouncement on Tuesday that it has also entered into a sponsorship with Singapore-based crypto.com for FIFA WORLD CUP QATAR 2022.
